Hampton 06/07/99 Mrs. Missouria C. Hampton, 89, 170 Carter Street, Roan Mountain, died Saturday, June 5, 1999, in the Roan Highlands Nursing Center. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Dora Harrison Starnes. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.O. Hampton, Sr., three brothers and three sisters. Mrs. Hampton was a retired cook at the Cloudland Elementary School. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Roan Mountain. Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law: W.O. Hampton, Jr., and Helen Hampton and James J. Hampton, all of Roan Mountain; two daughters and sons-in-law: Evelyn and Lawrence Roberts and Jean Lea and Roy Roberts, all of Roan Mountain; two sisters: Mrs. Effie Wallace, Elizabethton; and Mrs. Geneva Scott, Corvallis, Ore.; four grandchildren: Roy Lynn Roberts, Larry Roberts, Karma Morgan and Brittney Roberts; two great-grandchildren: Bennett Roberts and Chloe Roberts; also several nieces and nephews. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. HAMPTON -- Graveside service for Mrs. Missouria C. Hampton, 89, 170 Carter Street, Roan Mountain, who died Saturday, will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Hampton & Orr Cemetery with the Rev. Richard Stout and the Rev. Jack Hill officiating. Burial will follow the service. Active pallbearers will be active and inactive deacons of the First Baptist Church, Roan Mountain. To those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Hampton to the Building Fund, First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 148, Roan Mountain, TN 37687. Friends may call at the funeral home or the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 2:20 p.m. Sunday. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
