Hancock 09/07/99 Mrs. Martha Jane Hancock, 90, Ivy Hall Nursing Home, Elizabethton, died Saturday, September 4, 1999, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Hancock was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Charlie and Eva Ingram Stevens. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Cleon Hancock, in 1973; a daughter, Margie Hancock; three sisters, Bell Tolley, Josie Tolley and Bonnie Shell; and three brothers, Will Stevens, Monroe Stevens and Carmon Steven Mrs. Hancock was a member of the Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Velma Cannon, 1606 Central Avenue, Elizabethton; a son, Arvin Hancock, Salem, Ore.; a sister, Mrs. Grace Dugger, Elizabethton; three grandchildren: Teresa Linebaugh and her husband, David, Elizabethton, Shirley Johnson and her husband, Pete, Gresham, Ore., and Linda Mehlhaf, West Linn, Ore.; six great- grandchildren, Nina Mehlhaf, Lakken Linebaugh, MaKenzie Linebaugh, Michaele Johnson, Tori Johnson and Ian Johnson; a brother-in-law, Junior Shell, Gray; and two sisters-in-law, Eula Lee Stevens and Alice Stevens, both of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. HANCOCK -- Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Jane Hancock, 90, Ivy Hall Nursing Home, Elizabethton, who died Saturday, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Rev. Randy Johnson officiating. A Memorial Graveside Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Monte Vista Burial Park. Honorary pallbearers will be her nieces and nephews, her church family, Junior Shell, Eckert Street and a very special "Thank You" to the staff and employees of Ivy Hall Nursing Home and also to two very special friends, Mittie Belle Johnson and Mildred Vaughn. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m. Wednesday. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
