Hardin Mrs. Loretta D. (Granny) Hardin, age 87, 610 Race Street, Elizabethton, formerly of the Beck Mountain Community, died Tuesday, August 1, 2000, at her residence following a lengthy illness. A native and lifelong resident of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late James F. and Ida Glover Dugger. Mrs. Hardin was a homemaker and loved gardening. She was one of the oldest members of the Beck Mountain Baptist Church and the Adult Ladies Sunday School Class. Mrs. Hardin was preceded in death by her husband, J. Smith Hardin; a son, Raymond L. Hardin; a sister, Ruth D. Clark; and a son-in-law, Blaine Henegar Sr. Survivors include three sons and four daughters-in-law, Earl Sr. and Mary Hardin and Archie and Martha Hardin, all of Elizabethton, Ted and Sharon Hardin of Hampton, and Mrs. Rose Hardin of Elizabethton; six daughters and four sons-in-law, Mrs. Stella Henegar and Sally and Sammy Matherly of Elizabethton, Rozella Hardin of the home, Jane and Wayne Browder of Gray, Rebecca and Gary Shipley of Sanford, Fla., and Elaine and Wayne Larkins of Panama City Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Hill of Taylorsville, N.C., and Mrs. Sudie Kate Guinn of Hampton; one aunt, Mrs. Nell Dugger of Elizabethton; 16 grandchildren; 10 great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. (Granny) Hardin, age 87, 610 Race Street, Elizabethton, formerly of the Beck Mountain Community, who died Tuesday, August 1, 2000, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 2, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, with Rev. Ronnie Campbell, Mr. Hugh Hatfield, minister, and Rev. Bobby Stout officiating. Music will be under the direction of Rev. Ronnie Campbell, Gerald and Gloria Holly, and Mitzi Hobbs, organist. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 3, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be cousins, friends and former neighbors at Beck Mountain, friends and neighbors on Race Street, friends at Sims Hill Christian Church, Dr. Robert Walter, Dr. Nicholas Burik, the Staff of Housecall Hospice, Jack Combs, Glen Hardin, Floyd Lyons, Winifred Hayes and Jean Shelton. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence, 610 Race Street, Elizabethton, at any time.
