Howard W. Harrison

   Howard W. Harrison, 76, 146 Howard Harrison Rd., Roan Mountain, died 
Thursday, Aug. 16, 2001, at Johnson City Medical Center following an 
extended illness.
   Mr. Harrison was a native of Carter County and the son of the late 
Anderson and Sally Tanzell Harrison. He was also preceded in death by 
three brothers, two sisters, and two grandchildren, Jessica and Skip 
Harrison.
   Mr. Harrison was a member of Highpoint Missionary Baptist Church and 
a retired farmer.
   Survivors include his wife, Hazel Stout Harrison, of the home; three 
sons and two daughters-in-law, Jack Harrison, Charles and Edna Harrison 
and James and Sue Harrison, all of Roan Mountain; two daughters and 
sons-in-law, Ila and Sandy Harrison, Granite Falls, N.C., and Lula Mae 
and Douglas Barnes, Johnson City; and two sisters, Arlene Stout and 
Vonell Clawson, both of Roan Mountain. Ten grandchildren, 11 great-
grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

   HARRISON -- Funeral services for Howard W. Harrison, 76, 146 Howard 
Harrison Rd., Roan Mountain, who died Thursday, August 16, 2001, were 
conducted at 8 p.m. Saturday at Tetrick Funeral Home, Rhododendron 
Chapel, with the Rev. Jim Storie and the Rev. Jerry McCurry officiating. 
Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, 
Aug. 19, at Markland Cemetery, Roan Mountain. Active pallbearers will 
be Junior Harrison, Jason Stout, Garrett Hicks, Michael Hughes, Coburn 
Harrison, Kenny Jones, Mike Murray and Jerry Stout. Honorary pallbearers
will be Dr. Alfred Earwood, M.D., and Dr. Bill Tate, M.D. Everyone will
meet at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Sunday for the graveside service. 
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
