Lorna Jane Birchfield Heaton, 86, Swimming Pool Road, Hampton, died Monday,
January 17, 2005, at the Center for Aging and Health in Erwin.

Mrs. Heaton was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Grant and
Bertha Irick Birchfield. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death
by her husband, Coy Hayes Heaton, five brothers, Arnie Birchfield, Dudley
Birchfield, Irick Birchfield, Allen Birchfield and Worley Birchfield, and
three sisters, Hope Heaton, Cassie Heaton and Christine Church.

Mrs. Heaton was a member of Valley Forge Christian Church and later attended
Hampton Christian Church. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Lisa Heaton,
Elizabethton, and Randy and Gail Heaton, Bozeman, Mont.; a daughter and son-
in-law, Wanda and Lee McCoury, Roan Mountain; 13 grandchildren, Kristie
Roberts and her husband Larry Roberts, LeeBo McCoury and his wife Misty
McCoury, Ashlee McCoury, Ronnie Heaton and his wife Felicia Heaton, Racheal
Hern, Sara Heaton, Kylie Heaton, Molly Heaton, Abby Heaton, Andrew Heaton,
Landon Heaton, Prenthia and Joe Buckles and Susie Loveday; four great-
grandchildren, Chloe Roberts, Emma Roberts, Isaiah McCoury and Catherine
Heaton; a brother, Roy Birchfield, Elizabethton; a special niece and nephew,
Deanna and Sid Smith, and their children, Zach, Haley and Allison, all of
Hampton; and several nieces.

The funeral service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 19, in the
Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with Mr. H. Clay Bailey, minister,
officiating. The graveside service and interment will be at 10 a.m. Thursday,
January 20, in the Walnut Mountain Cemetery. Everyone will meet at the
cemetery at 9:55 a.m. Thursday for the graveside service. The family will
receive friends at the funeral home from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, prior to
the service. Active pallbearers will be nephews: Wayne Birchfield, Raymond
Birchfield, Chris Church, Don Church, Richard Birchfield, Danny Birchfield,
Terry Birchfield, Jimmy Birchfield, Elvin Heaton, Ray Heaton and Jack Heaton.
