CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Dayton Henson, 30 Apr 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Dayton Henson Dayton Henson, 76, Broad Street, Elizabethton, died Wednesday, April 30, 2003 in the James H. Quillen V.A. Medical Center. A native of Roan Mountain, he was a son of the late Rassie and Lockie Barnett Henson. He was a retired carpenter. Mr. Henson was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the VFW Post #2166. Mr. Henson was a member of the Christian Church. He was preceded in death by a brother, Cephus Smith. Survivors include his wife, Myra Haley Henson; a daughter and son-in- law, Brenda Kay and Billy Polly, of Johnson City; a son and daughter- in-law, David Frank and Lillie Claudette Henson, Elizabethton; one brother, Clifford Henson, of Dover, Penn.; one sister, Grace Barnett, of Roan Mountain; five grandchildren, Anthony Henson, Nathaniel Henson, Carrie Henson, Kimerly Polly, and Carla Polly, and one great grandson, Lim Henson. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. HENSON -- Funeral services for Dayton Henson, 76, Broad Street, Elizabethton, who died Wednesday, April 30, 2003, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2003 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Tim Ross, minister, officiating. Graveside service and interment will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2003 in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, will be Sammy Ellis, Tim Vines, Joseph Vines, Anthony Henson, Nathaniel Henson, and Billy Polly. Honorary pallbearers will be his friends. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence.
