Hicks 2/15/00 Lewis Gray Hicks, 75, 118 Ronnie Hicks Road, Elizabethton, died Sunday, February 13, 2000, at Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Hicks was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Isaac and Hattie Perry Hicks. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Theodore Hicks. Mr. Hicks was Project Manager with Mapes Piano String Company, where he had been employed for 43 years. He had served in the U.S. Army during World War II where he was a recipient of the Bronze Star. He was of the Methodist Faith. Survivors include his wife, Chrystal Grindstaff Hicks; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Sherry C. Hicks, Elizabethton; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mattie and Bill Williams and Dora Marie and Joel Hodge, all of Elizabethton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred Hicks and Wayne and Ruby Hicks, all of Elizabethton, and Mary Evelyn Hicks, Johnson City; and two grandchildren, Joshua Lewis Hicks and Abigail LeAnna Hicks. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. HICKS -- Funeral services for Lewis Gray Hicks, 75, 118 Ronnie Hicks Road, Elizabethton, who died Sunday, February 13, 2000, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 15, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Clay Bailey and Mr. Dan Rutherford, ministers, officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 16, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, will be Bill Schaff, Bob Schaff, Mark Schaff, Frankie Schaff, Eddie Harris and Charlie Harris. Honorary pallbearers will be James Glover, Harry Hutchins, Glen Grindstaff, Dean Grindstaff, Jim Kyte, Jack Hampton, Bill Williams, Joel Hodge, Art Grindstaff, Howard Grindstaff, Victor Chirica, Jim Renfro, Norman Peters and employees of Mapes Piano String Company. Also his special friends: Jane Schaff, Regina Harris, Lois Schaff, Brenda Sams, Marietta Elliott and Secretaries of Mapes Piano String Company. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday to go to the cemetery. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
