CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Conley Wilson Hicks, 23 Apr 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Conley W. Hicks Conley Wilson Hicks, 83, DeVault Bridge Road, Piney Flats, died Wednesday, April 23, 2003 in the Pine Ridge Care Center. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Manuel and Rosa Hartley Hicks. He was a retired farmer. Mr. Hicks had lived in Piney Flats for the past four years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by two brothers, William Hicks and Bernie Hicks. He was a member of the Good News Gospel Fellowship, Piney Flats. Survivors include his wife, Helen Ward Hicks; one daughter, Charlene Reece, Piney Flats; two nephews, Jerry Hicks, Butler, and Basil Hartley, Elizabethton; three nieces, Julia Walsh, Butler; Linda Vines, Elizabethton, and Diane McKinney, of Johnson City. A special friend, Ed Lyons, also survives. Memorial Funeral Chapel, Elizabethton, is in charge of arrangements. HICKS -- Funeral services for Conley Wilson Hicks, 83, DeVault Bridge Road, Piney Flats, formerly of Butler, who died Wednesday, April 23, 2003, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2003 in the Good News Gospel Fellowship, Weaver Branch Road, Piney Flats, with Pastor Jeff Millsaps, Pastor Dean Estep, and Pastor Richard Wise officiating. Interment will be held in the Trivette Cemetery, Lane Hollow Road, Watauga. The Sounds of Victory will provide the music. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the church at 1:50 p.m. Saturday will be Anthony Smith, Brownlow Vines, Earl Walsh, Jeff Millsaps, II, Donnie Millsaps, II, and Ronnie Millsaps. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Trivette and Carl Cable. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of his daughter, Charlene Reece, 2055 DeVault Bridge Road, Lot 42, Piney Flats, or the residence of a niece, Julia Walsh, 720 Poga Road, Butler.
