Norma L. Hicks

Norma Louise Hicks, 83, Hickory Street, Elizabethton, died Thursday, 
August 7, 2003, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following a brief illness.
Mrs. Hicks was a native of Avery County, N.C., and the daughter of the late 
Thomas Oaks and Amanda Garland Calhoun. She was also preceded in death by 
her husband, Grover L. Hicks, in 1966, and a son, Sidney Hicks. 
Mrs. Hicks was a member of Roan Street Free Will Baptist Church. She was a 
homemaker. 
Survivors include two daughters, Ella Jarrett, Roan Mountain, and Amanda Marie 
Brackins, Sevierville. Seven grandchildren, a great-grandson and all the 
special friends at church also survive.
The funeral service for Mrs. Hicks will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 
10, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with the 
Rev. Ray Stockton and the Rev. Rick Price officiating. Music will be under 
the direction of the Roan Street Free Will Baptist Church Choir. Interment 
will follow the funeral service at Rittertown Baptist Church Cemetery. Active 
pallbearers will be Richard Cannon, Bill Cannon, Matt Price, Robert Pierce, 
John Rouse and Steve Tolley. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m.
