CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Donnia R. Hicks, 26 Jun 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Donnia R. Hicks Mrs. Donnia R. Hicks, 90, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 26, 2004, at her residence at Four Oaks Health Center in Jonesborough. A native of Johnson County, she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Mary Tester Dunn. Living most of her life in Carter and Washington Counties, Mrs. Hicks was a Christian mother and a homemaker. She was a former co-owner and operator of Hicks Texaco Station and Restaurant in the Pinecrest community. Mrs. Hicks was a member of King Springs Baptist Church. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas R. and Dina K. Lyle of Jonesborough; two sisters, Addie Lee Bailey of Johnson City and Margaret Godsey of Elizabethton; four step-grandchildren, Kenneth, Eric, and Karen Thompson, and Kimberly Profitt; two step-great-grandchildren, Joshua Profitt and Jesse Thompson, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hicks was preceded in death by her husbands, Rev. L. W. "Red" Lyle and Landon T. Hicks; two sisters, Myrtle Bishop and Droma Davis; and a brother, Wiley Dunn. A Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Donnia R. Hicks will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, June 28, 2004, in the Sunrise Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services with Rev. Darrell Slagle, Jr., and Rev. Burl Garland officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mrs. Hicks' niece, Eula Mae Bailey. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Stephen Street, Ron Shelton, Jason Shelton, Kenneth Thompson, and Eric Thompson. The graveside and burial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, 2004, in Happy Valley Memorial Park.
