CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Nora Nell Hicks, 23 Nov 2004 ----¤¤¤---- God sent his angels to take Nora Nell Hicks, 95, formerly of Academy Street, Elizabethton, home at 8:35 a.m. Tuesday, November 23, 2004, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton. Born on Race Street, Elizabethton, she was a daughter of the late John L. and Charlotte Crowe Lee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William "June" Hicks, her twin sister, Belle Aker, and three brothers, John L. Lee, Mack Lee and Tommy Lee. Mrs. Hicks was a member of First Baptist Church and attended the Dorcas Sunday School Class. She had worked as a seamstress, retiring only three years ago. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Jim Cathelyn Sr., Elizabethton; one son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Pam Hicks, Elizabethton; two grandchildren and their spouses, Cheryl and John White, Elizabethton, and Jim Cathelyn Jr. and wife Trish, Johnson City; five great-grandchildren, Jason Cathelyn, St. Louis, Mo., Erin Peters and husband Jason, Johnson City, Lindsey White, Elizabethton, Justin Cathelyn and Jonah Cathelyn, both of Johnson City; a special niece, Lynette Lee Fair; and special friends, Pauline Honeycutt, Hannah Crockett, Margaret Luttrell, Laura Mills, Belle Lyons, Ann Brockwell and Ina Loveless. A celebration of life service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, November 26, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with Rev. Brent Seals officiating. Interment will follow the service at Happy Valley Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon until 2 p.m. Friday, prior to the service, or at other times at the residence of her daughter, 156 Southgate Drive, Elizabethton. Active pallbearers will be John White, Jason Peters, Harold Hicks, Dick Oatman, Jerry Gouge, Arthur Holsclaw and Jim Campbell. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Jerry Gastineau, Dr. Rachel Monderer, Dr. Larry Schmidt, Dr. Keith Morley, Bob Aker, John Aker, Wayne Hicks, Bill Williams, Hurley Carroll, Fred Hicks, Claude Callahan, Lawrence Jones, Kenneth Cathelyn, Duane Cathelyn, Raymond Tolley, special CNAs Ann Rambo and Sandy Lewis, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Honeycutt, nurses Lee Cornett, Ann Bare and Janice Woodby, Helen Hodges, Jennifer Ensor, Chuck Arnold, Joann Garland, all employees of Life Care Center and all the many friends known and loved over the years.
