Jack Hill The Rev. Jack Hill, 75, 3493 Ashwood Lane, Atlanta, Ga., died Monday, January 14, 2002, at Emory University Hospital following a brief illness. The Rev. Hill was a native of Roan Mountain and the son of the late Dayton and Nancy Lacey Hill. The Rev. Hill was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theater. He was a 1951 graduate of Carson-Newman College, Jefferson City, Tenn., and a 1959 graduate of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Wake Forest, N.C., with a Masters of Divinity Degree. The Rev. Hill formerly pastored Hampton Baptist Church, Hampton, First Baptist Church, Roan Mountain, Winton Baptist Church, Winton, N.C., Buckhorn Baptist Church, Como, N.C., Western Branch Baptist Church ( formerly South Street Baptist), Portsmouth, Va., and First Baptist Church, Concord, N.C. More recently he conducted the Sunday Campground Services at Roan Mountain State Park sponsored by the Roan Park Baptist Church. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Decatur, Ga. Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Parker Hill, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Amy Hill, Johnson City; a daughter and son-in- law, Karen and Gary Owen, Tucker, Ga.; a brother, Arden Hill, Elizabethton; a sister, June Hill Morton, Canton, N.C.; and a granddaughter, Caroline Hill Owen, Tucker, Ga. Jack Hill, 75, 3493 Ashwood Lane, Atlanta, Ga., who died Monday, January 14, 2002, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, January 17, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Dr. D. Steven Meyerhoff, minister, and the Rev. William D. Hyers officiating. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, January 18, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Glenn Hatfield, Walter Stewart, Evans Whitehead, Charles D. Ingram, Jack Ingram and Harold Bethany. Honorary pallbearers will be Clyde Cates, Tommy Ingram, Ted Decker, Jim Smith, Ray Vance, Robert Orr, Robert Buck and Bill Scott. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church of your choice.
