CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - William David "Bill" Hill Sr., 24 Jun 2002 ----¤¤¤---- William D. Hill Sr. William David "Bill" Hill Sr., 73, Spring Street, Hampton, died Monday, June 24, 2002, at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center, Mountain Home, following an extended illness. Mr. Hill was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Eugene and Dorothy Headrick Hill. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Jean Carter Hill. Mr. Hill was a member of Valley Forge Christian Church. He was retired from the military after 20 years of service, having served 11 years with the U.S. Air Force and nine years with the U.S. Navy. He also served during the Korean Conflict. He was also retired from Fieldcrest Mills after 18 years of service at Fieldale, Va. Survivors include his wife, Blanche Greene Hill, of the home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Diana and Andrew Bowden, Franklinton, N.C., and Lisa Lynn Hill, Durham, N.C.; a son and daughter-in-law, William David Jr. and Audra Hill, Durham, N.C.; a brother and sister-in-law, Eugene Jr. and Christine Hill, Fayetteville, N.C.; three grandchildren; an uncle, John Lewis Hill, Butler; a stepson, Larry Stonecipher, Elgin, Ill.; and two stepdaughters, Sandra Stonecipher, Kingsport, and Elaine Dosier, Rogers, Ark. Music will be under the direction of Frank Merritt. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 27, at Mountain Home National Cemetery, Mountain Home. Full Military Honors will be accorded by the Shaw Air Force Base Honor Guard, Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina. Honorary pallbearers will be John D. Snyder, Conley Glover, Jack Garrison, W.A. Suess, former classmates of Hampton High School and members of the Fellowship Sunday School Class of Valley Forge Christian Church. Special thanks to Cathy Watson. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 9 a.m. Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery.
