CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Paul Hilman, 20 Feb 2005 ----¤¤¤---- Paul Hilman, 74, Hyder Street, Elizabethton, died Sunday, February 20, 2005, at Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness. Mr. Hilman was a native of the Roan Mountain community and a son of the late Jim and Dale Honeycutt Hilman. Mr. Hilman was retired from Gordon's Furniture Company and was a member of Wayside Baptist Church, Johnson City. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Pearl Vandeventer Hilman, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Rick Asheworth, Johnson City, and Brenda and Donnie Persinger, Elizabethton; a son, Rev. Steve Hilman, of the home; a special grandson, Matthew Russell, of the home; a sister and brother- in-law, Mildred and Sterling Vance, Roan Mountain; a special brother-in-law, Floyd Vandeventer, Elizabethton; and two special friends, Charles and Peggy Henson, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 23, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Hilman and Rev. Jack Maupin officiating. Music will be under the direction of Rev. Steve Hilman. The committal service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 24, in the chapel of the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park with interment to follow. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service, or at other times at the residence, 112 Hyder Street, Elizabethton. Active pallbearers will be Larry Davis, Charles Henson, Floyd Vandeventer, Jimmy Vance, Dick Fergosi and James T. Pierce. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Wayside Baptist Church, Johnson City, friends and neighbors of Mr. Hilman, fellow employees of Gordon's Furniture Company and Dr. Payam Pooyan, Elizabethton.
