Hilton 12/13/99 James Lloyd Hilton, 77, 809 Elm Street, Elizabethton, died Saturday, December 11, 1999, at his residence. Mr. Hilton was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Lon and Anna Mae Bradley Hilton. He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Juanita Ann Hammitt, and a sister, Mary Evelyn Tapley. Mr. Hilton was a former employee of the J.C. Penney Company and retired as custodian at Southside Elementary School. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II and a member of the Southside Christian Church. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Juanita Mary and Ronald McNair, Elizabethton; a son, Jimmy Hilton, of the home; a brother, Jack Hilton, Elizabethton; and a granddaughter, Mary Evelyn Hammitt. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. HILTON -- Funeral services for James Lloyd Hilton, 77, 809 Elm Street, Elizabethton, who died Saturday, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Rev. Marvin Slagle officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Bradley Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 9:40 a.m. Tuesday, will be Bill Carter, Bob Carroll, Bernard "Sonny" Younce, Joe Voght, Luther Grindstaff, Eugene Younce, George Hodge, Chick Hodge and John Hammitt. Honorary pallbearers will be his family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 9:40 a.m. Tuesday to go to the cemetery. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
