Hinkle 03/18/99 Ben H. Hinkle, 87, 898 Piercetown Road, Butler, died Tuesday, March 16, 1999, at the James H. Quillen Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Mountain Home, following a brief illness. Mr. Hinkle was a lifetime resident of Carter County and a son of the late George and Kathryn Fletcher Hinkle. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Walt, Don and Ted Hinkle. Mr. Hinkle was a retired employee of American Bemberg Corporation with more than 40 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Captain Lynn H. Folsom VFW Post #2166. He attended Pierce Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Ethel Pierce, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Eddie and Bob Lindsey, Johnson City; and a granddaughter, Jessica Brooke Lindsey, Johnson City. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. HINKLE -- Funeral services for Ben H. Hinkle, 87, 898 Piercetown Road, Butler, who died Tuesday, will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday at Hathaway- Percy Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, with Rev. George Arnold officiating. Music will be by Jerry Barnett, soloist. Graveside services and interment will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Mountain Home National Cemetery with Military Honors accorded by the Honor Guard of Captain Lynn H. Folsom VFW Post #2166. Active pallbearers will be Richard Pierce, Doug Pierce, Gary Whitson, David Brumitt, Jamie Griffith and Ricky Montgomery. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Cable, Haskel Pierce, Bill Crockett, David Griffith, Jess Dillard and Ray Pierce. The family, friends, minister and pallbearers will meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Friday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday prior to the service. To those who desire, memorials may be made to the Carter County Rescue Squad, P.O.
