Hinkle William Glenn Hinkle, 72, 319 Highland Avenue, Johnson City, died Wednesday, March 21, 2001, at the James H. Quillen VA Hospital, Mountain Home, following a lengthy illness. Mr. Hinkle was a native of Carter County and had resided in Johnson City since 1984. He was the son of the late Valentine "Speedy" and Margaret Ruth Simerly Hinkle and was also preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Hinkle. Mr. Hinkle was a carpenter and attended the VA Protestant Chapel. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of Watauga Post #48 of the American Legion. He was a volunteer at the Veteran's Administration Center at Mountain Home for 14 years. Survivors include his wife, Janice P. Hinkle, of the home; a son, Keith Hinkle, Knoxville; a daughter, Judi McAbee, Asheville, N.C.; a sister, Judy Ledford, Johnson City; two half-brothers, Pat Ramsey, Johnson City, and Larry Lee Ramsey of California; a half-sister, Linda Nussbacher, Huntington, N.Y.; two grandsons, Brandon Hinkle, Knoxville, and Mark Smith, Johnson City; two granddaughters, Amie Smith, Johnson City, and Ashley Hanu, Knoxville; a step- grandson, Dustin McAbee, Asheville, N.C.; and a step-granddaughter, Wendi McAbee, Asheville, N.C. One great-grandson and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles also survive. These services entrusted to Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home. www.Funeral-Plans. com/Hathaway-Percy HINKLE -- Funeral services for William Glenn Hinkle, 72, 319 Highland Avenue, Johnson City, who died Wednesday, March 21, 2001, will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 22, at Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, with Mr. Greg Key officiating. Music will be by Larey Pippin, soloist. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 23, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the Captain Lynn H. Folsom VFW Post #2166. Active pallbearers will be Michael Woodby, Mark Smith, Dustin McAbee, Randy Lingerfelt, Jerry Campbell, Jeff White and Michael McAbee. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Trivett and Ruby Harmon. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Friday for the graveside service. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
