Cline H. Holtzsclaw

Cline H. Holtzsclaw, 88, 1105 Sevier Street, Johnson City, died 
Monday, January 6, 2003 at Johnson City Medical Center following a 
brief illness.
Mr. Holtzsclaw was a native of Carter County and had been a resident 
of Johnson City most of his life. He was a son of the late John C. and 
Celia Whitehead Holtzsclaw. Mr. Holtzsclaw retired from General Mills 
in 1979. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the 
Brotherhood Bible Class. 
Mr. Holtzsclaw had been active with the Orchid Society of East Tennessee, 
Washington County Beekeepers Association, and was instrumental in the 
development of the Friendship Gardens.
He was a graduate of Science Hill High School and attended Milligan 
College. 
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Reece Holtzsclaw and Will 
Holtzsclaw, and one sister, Effie Whitehead.
Survivors include his wife, Lena Holtzsclaw, of the home; one son, Bill 
Holtzsclaw, Gray; one daughter, Cheryl Holtzsclaw Buck, Bristol; one 
sister, Bernice Cable, Marion, N.C.; one grandson, David Holtzsclaw, 
Johnson City; two grand daughters, Susan Holtzsclaw, Gray, and Amber 
Wood, Pacifica, Calif. One great grand daughter, Chesea Holtzsclaw, 
Johnson City, also survives.
Appalachian Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

HOLTZSCLAW -- The funeral service for Cline H. Holtzsclaw, 88, 1105 
Sevier Street, Johnson City, who died Monday, January 6, 2003, will 
be conducted Wednesday, January 8, 2003 at 7 p.m. in the East Chapel 
of the Appalachian Funeral Home with Baron Eliason officiating. 
Graveside committal services will be held Thursday, January 9, 2003 
at 11 a.m. in Monte Vista Burial Park. Those planning to attend 
graveside services are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 a.m. 
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. in the 
east parlor of the funeral home. Condolences may be made at www.
