CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Rome Holtsclaw, 4 Jan 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Rome Holtsclaw Rome Holtsclaw, 90, formerly of Route 1, Roan Mountain, died Saturday, January 4, 2003, at the Roan Highlands Nursing Center following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late Will and Minnie Johnson Holtsclaw. Mr. Holtsclaw was a retired farmer. He is preceded in death by a brother, Howard Holtsclaw, and a sister, Florence Barnett. Survivors include four brothers, Herman Holtsclaw, Robert Holtsclaw, James Holtsclaw, and Wayne Holtsclaw, all of Roan Mountain; and two sisters, Nellie Hall and Salley Freeman, both of Roan Mountain. HOLTSCLAW -- The funeral service for Rome Holtsclaw, 90, formerly of Route 1, Roan Mountain, who died Saturday, January 4, 2003 in the Roan Highlands Nursing Center, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 7, 2003 in the Rhododendron Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain, with Rev. David Arnett and Rev. Delaney Berry officiating. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2003 in the Holtsclaw Family Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Mr. Holtsclaw's nephews, Delaney Barnett, Dana Barnett, Garfield Freeman, Bobby Freeman, Buster Freeman, and Chris Barnett. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 9:55 a.m. Wednesday for the graveside service. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 7, 2003 at the Rhododendron Chapel of TetrickFuneral Home, Roan Mountain, or at the residence at any time.
