CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Lester Honeycutt, 20 Jul 2003 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Lester Honeycutt Lester Honeycutt, 75, Simerly Creek Road, Hampton, died Sunday, July 20, 2003, at Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Honeycutt was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Zeb and Hattie Simerly Honeycutt. He was also preceded in death by five sisters, five brothers and one half sister. Mr. Honeycutt was a member of Fork Mountain Free Will Baptist Church. He was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation after 35 years of service and a retired employee of East Tennessee State University. He was a member of Roan Mountain Masonic Lodge No. 566 F.&A.M. and was a U.S. Navy veteran. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Shirley Bise Honeycutt, of the home; four daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and J.L. Mullins, Hampton, Leslie and Lonnie Glass, Johnson City, Rita and Gary Davis, Unicoi, and Lisa and Eddie Hill, Hampton; a son and daughter-in-law, Neil and Lisa Honeycutt, Erwin; seven grandchildren, Michael Mullins and friend, Tammy Bennett, Hampton, Gregory Davis and Phillip Davis, both of Unicoi, Seth Honeycutt, Erwin, Linsey Glass, Johnson City, Melissa Hill, Hampton, and Andrea Honeycutt, Erwin; and three special nieces, Dean Dean, Elizabethton, Hattie Lee Hitchew, Hampton, and Cathy Clawson, Elizabethton. L.D. Berry and the Rev. Tommy Largent officiating. Masonic services will be accorded by Roan Mountain Masonic Lodge No. 566 F.&A.M following the funeral service. Music will be under the direction of the Fork Mountain Free Will Baptist Church Trio. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home. Friends may also call at the residence, 873 Simerly Creek Road, Hampton, any time. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 23, at Honeycutt Cemetery, Hampton. Active pallbearers will be Michael Mullins, Gregory Davis, Phillip Davis, David Tolley, Charlie Clawson, Eston Honeycutt and Darrell Hitchew. Honorary pallbearers will be Amos Stevens Jr., Elmer Honeycutt Jr., Jim Honeycutt, Lonnie Shell, Billy Joe Roberts, Gary Wayne Bise, Elmer Ray Roberts, Lenore Lyons, Warren Bise, Seth Honeycutt, the men of Fork Mountain Free Will Baptist Church, friends and neighbors. Those who plan to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
