CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Herman Honeycutt Jr., 3 Oct 2003 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Herman Honeycutt Jr. Herman Honeycutt Jr., 73, Herman Honeycutt Road, Roan Mountain, died Friday, October 3, 2003, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Mr. Honeycutt was a native of Carter County. He had attended a school for the blind in Little Rock, Ark. He was owner and operator of Honeycutt Grocery and also operated concession stands in different locations. He was a member of Fork Mountain Free Will Baptist Church, a member of the Tennessee Business Enterprises and a member of the Carter County Sheriff's Association. Mr. Honeycutt was preceded in death by a stepson, Dewey Hilman, and a brother, Bill Norris. Survivors include his wife, Velma Blevins Honeycutt; a daughter, Debbie Stevens, Roan Mountain; a stepson, Glen Hilman, Hampton; two stepdaughters, Sue Goodwin, Bessimer, Ala., and JoAnn Norris, Hampton; and a sister, Charlotte Sikes, Murfreesboro. Nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive. The funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday, October 6, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Don Gregg officiating. Interment will follow in the Lyons Chapel Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 2:50 p.m. Monday, will be Shannon Hilman, Keith Lowe, Travis Stout, Ronnie Small, Josh Hilman, Bob Rainbolt and Shawn Steves. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Holder, Dale Blevins, Mike Blevins, Terry Blevins, Larry Honeycutt, Mike Honeycutt, Jim Cable, Ronnie Townson, Jack Smith, Paul Smith, Earl Aldridge, Marvin Honeycutt, Kenneth Potter and members of the Bluff City Police Department, Ralph Brown, Bill Brown, Hoit Aldridge, Keith Lyons, Stacy Street, Jimmy Street, Garrett Aldridge, Leonard Morgan, Chad Morgan and teachers of the Tennessee Technical School.
