Hodge Tom Frank Hodge, 85, 401 Rittertown Road, Hampton, died Friday, July 28, 2000, in the James H. Quillen V.A. Medical Center following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, Mr. Hodge was a son of the late Tom and Rhoda Hopson Hodge. He was preceded in death by a son and five brothers. He was a retired nursing assistant at the Veterans Hospital, Fort Howard, Md., where he had worked for 35 years. He had been an ordained minister since 1967. He was a member of the Prayer Tabernacle, where he had taught a Sunday school class for a number of years. He had served in the Army. Survivors include his wife, Bertie Woodby Hodge, three daughters: Helen Marie Lufsey and Juanita Bailey, both of Hampton, Va.; and Rhoda Mae Hodge, North Carolina; three sons: Tom M. Hodge and Russell Wayne Hodge, both of Hampton, Va.; and Ralph Wayne Whitehead, Hampton, Tenn.; 13 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. HODGE -- Funeral services for Tom Frank Hodge, 85, 401 Rittertown Road, Hampton, who died Friday, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Revs. A.G. Wagner and Gary Whitehead officiating. Graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the C.L. Woodby Family Cemetery. Barbara Trent will provide the music. Active pallbearers will be the men of Prayer Tabernacle. Honorary pallbearers will be Sheriff John Henson, Vaughn Fritts, Bobby Hill, Kelly Banner, Benny Tolley, Arnold Byrd, Loyd Presnell, Harold Presnell, Bill Jenkins and Randy Sims. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence. V.F.W. Post 2166 will conduct military graveside honors. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Monday Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
