Hollaway Chancie C. Hollaway, 92, formerly of 588 Whaleytown Road, Butler, died Saturday, August 12, 2000, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton following an extended illness. Mr. Hollaway was a native and lifelong resident of Carter County and the son of the late Alvin and Crettie Whaley Hollaway. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Frances Clawson Hollaway, in 1998, two sisters, Effie Bacon and Offie Whaley, and three brothers, Monroe Hollaway, Hunter Hollaway and Jesse Hollaway. Mr. Hollaway was a member of the Little Milligan Baptist Church and a retired farmer. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Richard Scott, Butler; two sisters, Goldia Gregg and Ada Bay, both of Johnson City; two grandchildren, Kim Sheets, Butler, and Scotty Puckett, Rogersville; four great-grandchildren, Darin Sheets and Abigayle Sheets, both of Butler, Tyler Puckett, Knoxville, and Genie Puckett, Rogersville; and a sister-in-law, Mary Chiles, Apopka, Fla. Hollaway, 92, formerly of 588 Whaleytown Road, Butler, who died Saturday, August 12, 2000, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 15, at Little Milligan Baptist Church with Rev. Nick Bradshaw and Rev. Ronnie Campbell officiating. Music will be under the direction of Rev. Ronnie Campbell. Interment will follow in the Lakeview Cemetery, Butler. Active pallbearers will be Roy Wagner, Fred Griffey, Dwight Whaley, Steve Campbell, J.R. Campbell and Ronda McQueen. Honorary pallbearers will be Scotty Puckett, Doug Hatley, Bearl Campbell, Bart Smith, the Nursing Staff of Life Care Center of Elizabethton, friends and neighbors and the men of Little Milligan Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence, 588 Whaleytown Road, Butler, any time.
