Mr. Hollifield was a native of Carter County and a son of the late LeRoy A. and Sarah Anna Potter Hollifield. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Edna N. Hollifield, in 1996, and a brother, Bill Hollifield. Mr. Hollifield was a member of Centerview Church of Christ and retired from North American Rayon Corporation. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Gwyn Hollifield, Johnson City; two daughters and a son-in-law, Carolyn Mir, Chicago, Ill., and Janis and Max Felty, Knoxville; four grandchildren, Major Tim Hollifield, U.S. Army, Pakistan, India, Chris Hollifield, Elizabethton, Perry Mir, Chicago, Ill., and Pamon Mir, Peoria, Ill.; three step- grandchildren, Jerry Felty, Knoxville, Preston Goforth and Lindsay Goforth, both of Cleveland, Ohio; two step-great-grandchildren, Kyle Felty and Katelyn Felty, both of Knoxville; four brothers, L.D. Hollifield, Canton, Ohio, Spurgeon Hollifield, Johnson City, Jimmy Hollifield, Dellroy, Ohio, and Bobby Hollifield, Elk Park, N.C.; and two sisters, Trina Greer, Elizabethton, and Madgie Carpenter, Crossnore, N.C. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. www.Funeral-Plans.com/Tetrick HOLLIFIELD -- Funeral services for Jack Hollifield, 80, 142 Earl Avenue, Elizabethton, who died Saturday, September 2, 2000, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 6, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, with Mr. David Irick, minister, officiating. Music will be under the direction of the Centerview Church of Christ Choir. Committal and entombment services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 7, in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Perry Mir, Pamon Mir, Wayne Ward, Curtis Morton, Mike Sanson, Kayo Gentry, Jerry Whitehead and Jeff Heaton. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Churches of Christ of East Tennessee, special friends, Troy White, Ralph Troutman, Wayne Ward and J.B. Heaton. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
