CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Virginia Hood, 25 Jun 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Virginia Hood Mrs. Virginia Hood, 97, Morley Street, Butler, died Wednesday, June 25, 2003 in the Life Care Center, Elizabethton. A native of Unicoi County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Elizabeth Jane Smith Johnson. She had lived a number of years in Butler. Mrs. Hood was the oldest member of Cobbs Creek Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde C. Hood, May 12, 1978, and by 7 brothers and sisters. Survivors include a daughter, Jackie Norris, with whom she made her home; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert (Sonny) and Vicki Hood, Butler; four grandchildren, Sherry Carson and her husband, Greg; Terry Hood and his wife, Caroline; Tammy Rice and her husband, David, and Craig Norris and his wife, Allison; 16 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. HOOD -- Funeral services for Mrs. Virginia Hood, 97, Morley Street, Butler, who died Wednesday, June 25, 2003, will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 28, 2003 in the Cobbs Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. David Cunningham and Rev. Alan Koch officiating. Interment will be in the Butler Memorial Cemetery. The church choir, Jean Ann Poore, soloist, Betty Cunningham, organist, and Jean Osborne, pianist, will provide the music. Active pallbearers will be Craig Norris, Terry Hood, David Rice, Harry Pierce, Junior McQueen, and Deryl Ward. There will be no visitation.
