Hopson Mary Ronia Stevens Hopson, 76, 102 Forest Drive, Elizabethton, died Tuesday, August 29, 2000, following an extended illness. Mrs. Hopson was a native of Carter County and retired as a cook from Hunter Elementary School after 29 years of service. She was also a former employee of Hunter First United Methodist Church and Circle Beauty Shop. She was a member of Hunter First Baptist Church. Mrs. Hopson was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Dora Stevens, her husband, William "Bill" Hopson, and by two sisters and two brothers. Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Brenda and Ricky McClure, with whom she made her home, and Sue Tipton, Roan Mountain; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Grady Barefield, Greeneville, Taylor and Suzie Dulaney, Knoxville, and Carry Barefield, Sunrise, Fla.; two brothers, Bill Stevens and Clyde Stevens, both of Johnson City; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Grubbs, Bluff City; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four stepchildren; and special friends, Rebecca Buckles, Joyce Williams, Louise Puckett, Ladies of the Dorcus Sunday School Class and Fellow Cooks of Hunter Elementary School. Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. www.Funeral-Plans.com/Tetrick HOPSON -- Funeral services for Mary Ronia Stevens Hopson, 76, 102 Forest Drive, Elizabethton, who went to be with our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 29, 2000, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, August 31, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, with the Rev. Eric Eggers and the Rev. Jim Storie officiating. Music will be under the direction of Bobby Miller, organist. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday, September 1, in the Caldwell Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Elizabethton with the Rev. Burl Garland and Dr. Dennis Deese officiating. Active pallbearers will be Roger Lewis, Jim Ferguson, Lawrence Hodge, Cecil Eggers, Terry Ward and Todd Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Jerry Gastineau, Dr. Vance Shaw, Dr. Robert Walter, Richard Taylor, Michael Blair, Jackie Ray, Jason Rhea, Mike Street, Michael Street, Eddie Kinser, the Rev. Jamie Ferguson, the Rev. Darrell Holly and members of Hunter First Baptist Church. Flowerbearers will be the ladies of Hunter First Baptist Church and friends. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Friday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
