Hopson Sgt. 1st Class (Ret.) Mack A. Hopson, 75, 859 Highway 91, Elizabethton, died Wednesday, August 8, 2001, at his residence. Mr. Hopson was a native of Carter County and a son of the late William and Callie Perkins Hopson. Mr. Hopson served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts. He retired after 30 years of service. Survivors include a son, Michael Hopson, Hampton; three daughters, Sherry Fannon, Elizabethton, Desma Bolen, Barnwell, S.C., and Tammi Snell, Elizabethton; a brother, James Hopson, Elizabethton; six grandchildren; and one great-aunt, Ora Thomas, Elizabethton. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. HOPSON -- Graveside services for Sgt. 1st Class (Ret.) Mack A. Hopson, 75, 859 Highway 91, Elizabethton, who died Wednesday, August 8, 2001, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, August 10, in the Perkins Cemetery, Roan Mountain, with the VFW Post #2166 officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m. Friday. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
