CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Helen Hathaway, 1 Apr 2005 ----¤¤¤---- Mrs. Helen Hathaway, 86, of Ivy Hall Nursing Home, Elizabethton, died there Friday, April 1, 2005, following a brief illness. Mrs. Hathaway was a native of Elizabethton and the daughter of the late Baxter E. and Mary Morrell Nave. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cale L. Hathaway, in 1986, a sister, Beatrice Stubblefield, and a stepdaughter, Joyce Mitchell. Mrs. Hathaway was a retired bookkeeper with Carter County Bank. She was a former member of the Elizabethton Business and Professional Women's Club and a former member of the Elizabethton Women's Club. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elizabethton. Survivors include a sister, Margaret Carter, Elizabethton, and a nephew and his wife, Kenny and Tammy Carter, Elizabethton. Funeral services for Mrs. Hathaway were conducted at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 2, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Mr. Brent Nidiffer, minister, officiating. Music was under the direction of Dan Pratt, soloist. Graveside services and interment will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 3, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Leonard Febuary, Joe Alexander, Tim Broyles, David Shields, David Pinckard, Randy Jones and Andy Grindstaff. Honorary pallbearers will be Crawford Grindstaff, Joe Manning, Keith Benfield, Greg Benfield, Robert Benfield, Harold Dean Morrell and David Manning. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 1:15 p.m. Sunday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service. Friends may also call at the residence of her nephew and his wife, Kenny and Tammy Carter, 601 Maryetta Avenue, Elizabethton, at anytime.
