Hathaway 06/03/99 Ralph B. Hathaway, 71, 612 Regency Lane, Elizabethton, died Tuesday, June 1, 1999, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Mr. Hathaway was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Eugene and Nola Benfield Hathaway. Mr. Hathaway was a retired Postal Clerk. He served in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the VFW Post #2166 and was a Disabled American Veteran. He was a member of West Side Christian Church. Survivors include his wife, Burnette Oaks Taylor Hathaway; two daughters and sons-in-law, Betsy and Lisle Snyder, Blowing Rock, N.C., and Sheree and Benny Pierce, Elizabethton; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Dana and Joan Hathaway and Shane Hathaway, all of Elizabethton; two stepdaughters and a stepson-in-law, Kathy and Scott Campbell and Connie Ellen Davis, all of Elizabethton; a stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, Randy and Sandra Taylor, Lexington, S.C.; a sister, Mrs. Lois McKinney, Hampton; three brothers, John Hathaway, Elizabethton, Charlie Hathaway, Knoxville, and Joe Hathaway, Melbourne, Fla.; and 11 grandchildren, Rachel Hopson, Trey Snyder, Joshua Hathaway, Jacob Hathaway, Ashley Pierce, Richard Akers, Kellee Akers, Daniel Bledsoe, Brian Taylor, Elaine Taylor and Kari Taylor. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. HATHAWAY -- Graveside services and interment for Ralph B. Hathaway, 71, 612 Regency Lane, Elizabethton, who died Tuesday, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Hathaway Family Cemetery (Valley Forge) with Mr. Greg Key, Mr. Jeff Davis and Mr. Jack Bruce, ministers, officiating. VFW Post #2166 will conduct Military Graveside Honors. Pallbearers will be grandsons and friends attending the service. To those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Mr. Hathaway to the West Side Christian Church, 1307 West G. Street, Elizabethton, Tenn. 37643. Friends are welcome to call at the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 12:55 p.m. Friday. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
