CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Hattie Beatrice Meredith Hathaway, 27 Jul 2002 ----¤¤¤---- Hattie B. Hathaway Mrs. Hattie Beatrice Meredith Hathaway, 92, 607 Aggie Drive, Orlando, Fla., formerly of 419 Washington Avenue, Elizabethton, died Saturday, July 27, 2002, at Rio Pinar Health Care, Orlando. Mrs. Hathaway was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Robert W. and Minnie Garrison Meredith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Albert B. Hathaway, February 3, 1983; a son, Jerry E. Hathaway, December 6, 1997; a grandson, Jeffrey Hathaway; two brothers, Ernie Meredith and Dorsie Meredith; and four sisters, Lizzie Belle Reed, Katie Williams, Gretchen White and Elsie Grindstaff. Mrs. Hathaway had lived in Florida since December 1998. She was a retired saleslady from King's Department Store, Johnson City, and had served for several years as a Pink Lady at the former Carter County Memorial Hospital and Sycamore Shoals Hospital. She was a member of First Christian Church of Elizabethton. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald G. and Charlotte Hathaway and Harry and Salle Hathaway, all of Orlando, Fla.; a sister, Ruby Donnelly, Merritt Island, Fla.; a brother, Robert Meredith, Elizabethton; a grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Brian and Wendy Hathaway, St. Cloud, Fla.; and two great-grandchildren, Heather and Kristen Hathaway. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. HATHAWAY -- Funeral services for Mrs. Hattie Beatrice Meredith Hathaway, 92, 607 Aggie Drive, Orlando, Fla., formerly of 419 Washington Avenue, Elizabethton, who died Saturday, July 27, 2002, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Donald B. Marshall officiating. Music will be provided by Mrs. Janet Stuart. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Crawford Grindstaff, Ray Williams, Dorsey Reed, Kenny Carter, Richard Butner and Jerry Hubbard. Honorary pallbearers will be Howard White Jr., Greg Hubbard, Hugh Hatfield, Jamie Hubbard, Bob Madgett and her church family. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday to go to the cemetery.
