CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - John Bell Hathaway, 10 Nov 2002 ----¤¤¤---- John B. Hathaway John Bell Hathaway, 69, 1008 Rainbow Drive, Johnson City, died Sunday, November 10, 2002, at Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness. Mr. Hathaway was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Robert Eugene and Nola Benfield Hathaway. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Helen Hathaway, and three brothers, Carl Ray Hathaway, Dan Hathaway and Ralph Hathaway. Mr. Hathaway was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and a retired employee of TVA after serving 35 years as an electrician. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict, and was a member of the Captain Lynn H. Folsom VFW Post #2166. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Simerly Hathaway, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Renee Hathaway, Gray; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Grace Hathaway, Gray; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Marie Hathaway, Knoxville, and Joe and Ruth Hathaway, Melbourne, Fla.; and a sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Rollo McKinney, Hampton. Funeral-Plans.com/Tetrick HATHAWAY -- Funeral services for John Bell Hathaway, 69, 1008 Rainbow Drive, Johnson City, who died Sunday, November 10, 2002, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 12, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with the Rev. Dennis Kress officiating. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 13, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers will be Curt Emmert, Milburn Ellis, Terry Emmert, Louis Persinger, Leon Benfield, Gary Simerly and employees at the TVA Customer Service Center in Johnson City. Those who plan to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m. Wednesday. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home. Friends may also call at the residence at any time.
