A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Nona Jane Blevins Phipps. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack Bridgeford, three brothers: Bassal Phipps, Ben Phipps and Wallace Phipps; and four sisters: Ethel Farris, Hazel Cartwright, Emma Lou Isaacs, and Pernecy Persinger. Mrs. Hubbard was owner and operator of Tina's Drapery Service, Watauga, for a number of years. She was a member of First Assembly of God, Elizabethton. Survivors include her husband, Charles G. Hubbard; one step-son, Bobby Glen Hubbard, Chuckey; two sisters: Charlotte Sellers, Elizabethton; and Jessie Starnes, Johnson City; two brothers: Brown Phipps and Jim Phipps, both of Watauga; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. HUBBARD -- Funeral services for Mrs. Hassie "Tina" Hubbard, 87, 210 Ninth Street, Watauga, who died Monday, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the First Assembly of God, with the Revs. Ron Forrester and Ricky Jones officiating. Graveside service and interment will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Monte Vista Burial Park, Johnson City. The Rev. Ricky Jones will provide the music. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the church at 9:15 a.m. Thursday, will be Bill Crouse, Richard Blevins, Chris Ford, Johnny Range, Melvin Ferrell, Vincent Phipps, Charles Kuess, and Carroll Lee Phipps. Honorary pallbearers will be her church family. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in the church. Friends may also call at the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the church at 9:15 a.m. Thursday to go to the cemetery. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
