Hughes 03/11/99 Mrs. Ida Pearl Shell Hughes, 87, 3001 Stewart Drive, Wilson, N.C., died Monday, March 8, 1999, at Nash Grove Manor, Nashville, N.C. Mrs. Hughes was a native of Carter County and had lived in North Carolina since 1989. She was a daughter of the late William and Myrtle Range Shell and was also preceded in death by her husband, Samuel E. Hughes, in 1973. Mrs. Hughes was a homemaker and a lifelong member of the Brick Christian Church, Watauga. Survivors include a son, Robert William Hughes, Johnson City; a daughter, Carolyn Nagle, Wilson, N.C.; and a sister, Lucy D. Slagle, Hartselle, Ala. Six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. HUGHES -- Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Ida Pearl Shell Hughes, 87, 3001 Stewart Drive, Wilson, N.C., who died Monday, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the Keg Mottern Cemetery, Watauga, with Mr. Jack Hyder, minister, officiating. The family received friends Wednesday evening at Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel. Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
