Hughes Charles Lowell Hughes, 70, 131 Hughes Road, Watauga, died unexpectedly Thursday, June 14, 2001, at his residence. Mr. Hughes was a native of Carter County and the son of the late J.F. and Bessie Tate Hughes. He was also preceded in death by a brother, James Gordon Hughes. Mr. Hughes was a former manager of the Paty Lumber Company of Elizabethton and the Giant Food Markets. He was a member of Brick Christian Church of Watauga and a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Survivors include his wife, Imogene "Jean" Hughes, of the home; two sons, Chris Hughes, of the home, and Michael Hughes, Johnson City; a granddaughter, Morgan Hughes, of the home; and a sister-in-law, Nancy Alsup, Elizabethton. Visit our Web site at www.Funeral-Plans.com/Tetrick HUGHES -- Funeral services for Charles Lowell Hughes, 70, 131 Hughes Road, Watauga, who died Thursday, June 14, 2001, were conducted at 8 p.m. Saturday, June 16, at Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, with Mr. Johnny Perkins, minister, officiating. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, June 18, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Thomas Warren, Sonny Slagle, Ronnie Trivette, Bob Hughes, Lon Davis, Chuck Milam and Anthony Buck. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Ramesh Rao, Dr. Paul Brown, Dr. Ted Sykes, Dr. Jeff Farrow, John Parks, Richard Smith, Ronnie Wilhoit, Allen Cash, Junior Campbell and Doug Slagle. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Monday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday.
