CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - James B. Hughes, 2 Sep 2002 ----¤¤¤---- James B. Hughes James B. Hughes, 85, 409 Cloudland Drive, Roan Mountain, died Monday, September 2, 2002, at Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness. Mr. Hughes was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Samuel and Nettie Green Hughes. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Della King Hughes, three sisters, Jane Johnson, Anna Brown and Josie Morgan, and three half sisters, Lena Lefever, Minnie Wingate and Dorothy Decker. Mr. Hughes was a member of Roan Mountain United Methodist Church and a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation. Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Carmalita Buchanan, of the home, Jean and John Stofey, Philadelphia, Pa., and Wanda and Jeff McKinney, Roan Mountain; a sister, Lila Kimbler, Roan Mountain; and a brother, Clarence Hughes, Chenney, Wash. Hughes, 85, 409 Cloudland Drive, Roan Mountain, who died Monday, September 2, 2002, will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, September 5, in the Rhododendron Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain, with the Rev. Stephen Morrison officiating. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, September 6, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Tony Buchanan, Scott McKinney, James McKinney, Billy Frye, Gary Gouge and Matthew Buchanan. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Morgan and Elmer Haynes. Those who plan to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Friday. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Rhododendron Chapel.
