CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Nora Weaver Hurley, 3 Jan 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Nora W. Hurley Nora Weaver Hurley, 88, 103 Hyder Street, Elizabethton, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at her residence, following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late John and Eliza Williams Weaver. She was preceded in death by a sister, Hallie Hardin; two brothers, Herman Weaver and James Weaver; a sister-in-law, Ruby Weaver; and her step-mother, Eddie Weaver. Mrs. Hurley was a member of Caldwell Springs Baptist Church, where she was a teacher in the Willing Workers Sunday School Class for many years. She was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corp. Survivors include her husband, Harvey Hurley, of the home; one sister and brother-in-law, Pauline and U.G. Buckles, Elizabethton; a sister-in- law, Pereda Weaver, Elizabethton; three nieces, Carol Ledford, Sharon Oliver and Sheila Wilson, all of Elizabethton; three nephews, Jerry Weaver and Ted Weaver, both of Elizabethton and Dean Weaver, Pascagoula, Miss.; three grand-nieces: Melissa Frazer, Knoxville, Tenn., Melanie Reid, Ft. Walton Beach, Fla. and Regina Oliver, Elizabethton; four grand-nephews, John Weaver, Mississippi, Ryan and Trever Weaver and Jason Wilson, all of Elizabethton. James Hawk and Dr. William Duncan officiating. Music will be under the direction of Sharon and Regina Oliver and Jill Kemp. Graveside service and Interment will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, in the Caldwell Springs Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jerry Weaver, Ted Weaver, Trever Weaver, Terry Oliver, Gurney Pierce, Dallas Pierce, James Pierce and Chris Lyons. Special thanks to Dr. James Shipley, Linda Holly and the hospice nurses, Paul and Pearl Hilman, Chris Long and Jason Wilson. Those planning to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home chapel at 9:15 a.m. Monday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel, or at the residence at any time.
