Hyder 09/08/99 Rev. Arlie Lee Hyder, 71, 113 East H. Street, Elizabethton, died Monday, September 6, 1999, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness. Rev. Hyder was a native of Carter County and a son of the late William Harrison and Celia Mae Cable Hyder. He was also preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Hyder, two sisters, Eula Scalf and Geneva Barnett, and two brothers, Marvin Hyder and Paul Hyder. Rev. Hyder was an Ordained Baptist Minister. He had pastored several churches and prior to his illness had preached at all Carter County Nursing Homes. He was a retired employee of Beaunit Fibers. Survivors include his wife, Thelma Smith Hyder; a daughter, Sandra Kay Forbes, Hampton; two sisters, Mrs. Collene Hicks, Johnson City, and Mrs. Joyce Cole, Hampton; and two brothers, Cecil Hyder and Gaylord Hyder, both of Hampton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. HYDER -- Funeral services for Rev. Arlie Lee Hyder, 71, 113 East H Street, Elizabethton, who died Monday, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Rev. D.C. Byrd and Rev. Clate Briggs officiating. Music will be provided by Onie and Ray Williams. Graveside services and interment will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Hyder Family Cemetery (Piney Gove Community), Hampton. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1:15 p.m. Thursday, will be Hershel Scalf, Daniel Cole, Jimmy Cole, Gaylynn Hyder, Scotty Hyder and Marlon Hyder. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Stevens, William Cole, Mark Cosgrove, Dean Hicks, Todd Kane, Toney Vines, Herbert Parlier and Lowell Stout. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence, 113 East H. Street, Elizabethton. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 1:15 p.m. Thursday to go to the cemetery. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
