Hyder 04/06/99 Myrtle E. Hyder, 92, formerly of 142 Coal Chute Road, Elizabethton, died Monday, April 5, 1999, at Hermitage Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mrs. Hyder was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Webb and Lorine Vandeventer Williams. She was also preceded in death by her husband, A. Hobart Hyder, March 19, 1957, an infant son, Aaron Hobart Hyder, a son, Hobart Duane Hyder, September 29, 1997, and a sister, Edith Kyte. Mrs. Hyder was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church and a retired school teacher with the Carter County Board of Education having taught for 30 years at Valley Forge Elementary School, mostly third grade. She earned her B.S. Degree at East Tennessee State College in 1962. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association. Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Louise Hyder, Elizabethton; a brother, E. Fonce Williams,. Elizabethton; a sister, Pauline Boyd, Elizabethton; and a grandson, Hobie Hyder, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. HYDER -- Funeral services for Myrtle E. Hyder, 92, formerly of 142 Coal Chute Road, Elizabethton, who died Monday, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, with Rev. Bruce Hendrich and Rev. Estel Williams officiating. Music will be under the direction of Janet Weaver, Bruce Hendrich and Rick Snodgrass. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Albert Santiago, Will Andrews, Jerry Williams, Paul Boyd, Samuel "Sammy" Boyd, Wayne Eggers and Dr. N.E. Hyder. Honorary pallbearers will be the Gleaners Sunday School Class members at Oak Street Baptist Church and Doe River Baptist Church; the Nursing Staff of Hermitage Nursing Home; Paul Knapp, minister; Homer Eggers; Deacons of Oak Street Baptist Church; Dr. Thomas Borthwick; Carol Schrum and Jeanette Hawkins. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of her daughter-in-law, Louise Hyder, 143 Ruby Avenue, Elizabethton, any time. Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
