Hyder Mrs. Goldia Bernice Gouge Hyder, 83, 4010 Simerly Creek Road, Unicoi, died Monday, April 23, 2001, at the residence of a daughter, Gladys Hathaway, after an extended illness. Mrs. Hyder was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Lige and Cordia McKinney Gouge. She was also preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Martin Hyder, two sons, Jack Hyder and J.H. Hyder, and two daughters, Nita Bennett and Helen Hyder. Mrs. Hyder was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church, Limestone Cove. Survivors include eight daughters and six sons-in-law, Gladys Hathaway and Dale Roberts and Hattie and Eugene Bell, all of Unicoi, Mary and Paul Vance, Hampton, Armeta and Norman Ringman, Addison, Mich., Mae Berry, Unicoi, Madgie Gilbert, Johnson City, Jewel and Raymond Odom, Bakersville, N.C., and Virgie and Leslie Dutton, Millville, N.J.; and a special daughter-in-law, Helen Hyder, Erwin. Twenty-nine grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and 21 great- great-grandchildren also survive. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. HYDER -- Funeral services for Mrs. Goldia Bernice Gouge Hyder, 83, 4010 Simerly Creek Road, Unicoi, who died Monday, April 23, 2001, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 26, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. John Stockton, the Rev. Dallas Gregg, the Rev. James Hamm and the Rev. Estel Williams officiating. Music will be provided by the Limestone Cove Quartet. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 27, in the Hyder Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Friday, will be Eric Davis, Estel Waycaster, Kyle Vance, Steve Bell, Jimmy Bell, David Bell, Helen Burrell and Sandra Woodby. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. David Beals, Jimmy Davis, Clyde Fredericks, Theodore Morrow, Ronald Hyder, Ricky Hyder, Randy Hyder, the staff of Unicoi County Home Health, employees of Quality Care Rescue Squad and members of the Limestone Cove Volunteer Fire Department. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of a daughter, Gladys Hathaway, 4010 Simerly Creek Road, Unicoi. To those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Hyder to the Limestone Cove Volunteer Fire Department, c/o Jimmy Bell, 520 Odom Road, Unicoi, Tenn. 37692.
