CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Lillian Whitehead Hyder, 21 Nov 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Lillian Whitehead Hyder, 77, Hwy. 19E, Hampton, died Sunday, November 21, 2004, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Mrs. Hyder was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late I.E. and Julia A. Stevens Whitehead. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Leonard Hyder, November 4, 2004, a brother, Tee W. Whitehead, and three sisters, Velma Simmons, Vesta Gouge and Betty Lou Lyons. Mrs. Hyder was a member of Sunset Freewill Baptist Church. She was retired from the Carter County School System. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Lenora and Buddy Wiseman, Hampton; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Carol Ann Hyder, Elizabethton; five grandchildren, Regina Hyder, Irvine, Calif., Melinda Hyder, Sevierville, Michelle Crumley and her husband Jeff, Hampton, Michael Moody and his wife Sandra, Mountain City, and Kimberly Carr and her husband Michael, Bluff City; five great-grandchildren, Dustin and Amanda Crumley, Corey, Dakota and Colton Crumley, all of Hampton, and Mikayla Moody, Mountain City; two great-great-grandchildren, Gracie and Ryan Crumley, Elizabethton; a brother, John Whitehead; and a sister-in- law, Eva Casey, Elizabethton. Several nieces, nephews and a host of friends also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 23, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Rev. Terry Richardson and Rev. Gary Whitehead officiating. Music will be provided by The Sounds of Victory and Melinda Hyder. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 24, in the Whitehead Cemetery, Hampton. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Wednesday, will be Randy Lyons, Dustin Crumley, Corey Crumley, Michael Moody, Keith Whitehead and Glen Gouge. Honorary pallbearers will be her church family. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Friends may call at the residence at any time.
