Jennings Florence Marie Hicks Jennings, 76, of Johnson City, went to be with her Lord, Tuesday March 11, 2008, at her residence after a courageous battle with cancer. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Charles Garfield and Ida Ellis Hicks. Mrs. Jennings had lived in Johnson City for a number of years. She was a retired employee of Hoover Ball, Erwin. She was a member of the Tacoma Church of God and a member of the Johnson City Senior Citizens. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, E.C. Jennings, November 17, 2002. Survivors include a daughter, Thalia C. Jennings, Galax, Va.; a son, Maxwell F. Jennings, Johnson City; a granddaughter, Kristin Jennings, Jonesborough; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Pauline Elliott, Guin, Ala., and Bonnie and Harold Stout, Elizabethton; four brothers and two sisters-in- law, James W. Hicks, Lynchburg, Va., Albert and Sue Hicks, Jonesborough, Bobby Jack and Shirley Hicks, Hampton, and Harold D. Hicks, Elizabethton; and a sister-in-law, Christine White, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A Service to Celebrate the Life of Florence Jennings will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Friday, March 14, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. R. Willard Warfield and the Rev. Darrell Sovine officiating. Music will be provided by Ray Don Markland. Interment will follow in the National Cemetery, Mountain Home, with the Rev. Don Kelly officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Stout, Larry McMillan, Clinton Boswell, Ray Markland, Hollie Bowman Jr., Earl Ellis Sr., Lewis Ellis, Rick Elliott, Jay Cantley, Steve Hubbard and her church family. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at her residence. To those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Jennings to one of the following: Medical Center Hospice Service, 101 Med Tech Parkway, Suite 100, Johnson City, TN 37604; The Musical Voices, 607 E.
