Mrs. Johnson was born April 3, 1915, the oldest of six children of the late Hank and Essie Franklin of the Valley Forge Community. She was preceded in death by her husband, C.B. Johnson Sr., of 66 years, two brothers, Fred "Bud" Franklin and John "Junior" Franklin, and a sister, Helen Franklin Ward. Surviving are her children: Ben E. Johnson and wife Carolyn Johnson and Bonnie Johnson Flynn, all of Elizabethton, Linda Johnson Hogan and husband George Hogan, Asheville, N.C., and C. Benjamin Johnson and wife Penny Johnson, Cashiers, N.C.; nine grandchildren, Rev. Randy Johnson, Rick Johnson, Jeff Mink, Joe Mink, Jeana Mink Swanson, Matthew Ward, Mamie Hogan, Brittany Johnson and Christopher Johnson; 11 great-grandchildren, Megan Johnson, Natalie Johnson, Andy Johnson, Kelsey Johnson, Keaton Johnson, Alex Mink, Benji Mink, Kayleigh Swanson, Karley Swanson, Tyler Mink and Hannah Mink; two sisters, Mildred "Cupe" Vaughan, Elizabethton, and Virginia Harmon, of Texas; and special friends, Lockie Finney, Lewis Ward and Betty Sparks Campbell. Several "special" cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of special relatives, friends and neighbors and a very special church family also survive. She was a devoted Christian mother and was the oldest member and "prayer warrior" of Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church for over 75 years. She served her church faithfully and in so many ways and in so many capacities from the very start of the church until the time of her recent surgery and sickness. Serving the Lord and His work and Church was her life. She loved the Lord and His Work and loved being a Christian Mother. In every sense of the word she was a true "Mom." She enjoyed being a homemaker and loved her family and her beautiful flowers and garden. She could cook up a storm of delicious food for about any size crowd and she could bake about the "meanest" coconut cream pie anywhere around, vouched for by the hundreds she loved to take to sick folks and family and friends. She leaves a legacy of Christian Service not only to her family, but her church family, neighbors and friends. Today she is with the Lord, signing in a heavenly choir in a place she wanted to go for so long. She believed with all her heart that "Eye hath not seen-Ear hath not heard-neither hath it entered into the heart of man the things God has prepared for His children." She fought a good fight -- She kept the faith -- She finished her course -- Well done thou good and faithful servant. The funeral service for Mrs. Johnson will be conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 30, at Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church with her grandson and pastor of the church, Rev. Randy Johnson, officiating. In charge of special music at Mrs. Johnson's request will be Randy and Gina Johnson and family, her son, Ben E. Johnson, and daughter, Bonnie Johnson Flynn.
