Johnson Shirley F. Johnson, 72, 115 Forest Drive, Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord, Saturday, March 1, 2008, from Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Conley Robert and Lola Morticia McGuire Parlier. Mrs. Johnson was a member of Keenburg Free Will Baptist Church and retired from the bookkeeping department of Citizens Bank following 30 years of service. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, E.J. Johnson Jr., in 1987, a sister, Ruby Carr, and three brothers, Earl, Archie and Dick Parlier. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Jerry Williams, Woodbury, Tenn., and Kathy Elaine and Martin Lambert, Elizabethton; a son, Edward Joseph "Buddy" Johnson III, who was special in her life; a granddaughter, Bobbie Jo Miller, Elizabethton; a great-grandson, Austin Miller, Elizabethton; five sisters, Eunice Carr, Elizabethton, Helen McDiffitt of Ohio, Betty Cox, Gate City, Va., Irene Reed and Carol Chase, both of Elizabethton; and several loved sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, Norma Jenkins, Phyllis Minton, Margie Parks, Carolyn Slaughter, Helen Vannoy, Nancy Johnson, Barbara Johnson, Ruby Parlier and Lynn Johnson. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Johnson will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, March 3, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Street officiating. Music will be under the direction of Rev. Mark Street. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, prior to the service. Friends may also call at the residence, 115 Forest Drive, Elizabethton, at anytime. The graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Everyone is welcome to meet the family at 10:15 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Bubba Blevins, Edward Joseph "Buddy" Johnson III, Malcolm Johnson, Alex Carr, Lynn Johnson, Mark Slaughter, Eddie Reed and Jerry Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Martin Lambert, Mark Carr, Tin Parlier, Doris Blevins, Michael Carr, Kevin Templeton, Muff Parlier, Shawn Johnson, other family, friends and neighbors and fellow employees of Citizens Bank. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Dawn of Hope, P.O. Box 30, Johnson City, TN 37605.
