Jackson 01/15/99 Eugene Alonzo Jackson, 1506 E. Unaka Avenue, Johnson City, formerly of Elizabethton, died Monday, January 11, 1999, at the James H. Quillen V.A. Medical Center Hospital. He was the fourth of eleven children born to Robert Lee and Katie Watson Jackson of Elizabethton. He received his primary and secondary education from the Douglas School System. He graduated in 1942, the school's third High School Graduating Session. Eugene was a graduate of Norfolk Division of Virginia State College, now known as Hampton University. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. He was employed in Administration of the Norfolk Port Authority Embarkation Center, Norfolk, Va. He was a disabled Army Veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific Campaign. He was a member of the Browns Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church. Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Ola Mae Taylor, Elizabethton, and Mrs. Nevada Ford, Johnson City, and two brothers, Mr. William D. Jackson, Portsmouth, Va., and Gordon M. Jackson, Biloxi, Miss. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. JACKSON -- Funeral services for Eugene Alonzo Jackson, 1506 E. Unaka Avenue, Johnson City, formerly of Elizabethton, who died Monday, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Rev. Timothy Watterson, Rev. James Reddick, Rev. Ernest Widby, Mr. Leo Thompson and Rev. Jeanette Clark officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mrs. Kerroll Thompson. Interment will be in the Jackson Family Cemetery. Military Graveside Honors will be conducted by the VFW Post #2166. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 12:50 p.m. Saturday, will be Ronnie Haynes, Dennis McKesson, Robert Susong, Gary McKesson, Jeff Taylor and Benny Taylor. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12 noon Saturday until the service hour at 1 p.m. Friends may also call at the residence of a sister, Mrs. Ola Mae Taylor, 731 S. Lynn Avenue, Elizabethton. The family will assemble at the residence of Mrs. Taylor to go to the funeral home. Memorial Funeral Chapel, Elizabethton, is in charge of arrangements. Eugene A. Jackson 01/13/99 Eugene Alonzo Jackson, 75, 1506 E. Unaka Avenue, Johnson City, died Monday, January 11, 1999, at the James H. Quillen V.A. Medical Center following an extended illness. Mr. Jackson was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Robert Lee and Katie Lucinda Watson Jackson. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, a brother and a nephew, Ronnie Forney. Mr. Jackson was a graduate of Hampton University, Hampton, Va. He was a retired typist and clerk and was an Army Veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Brown Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, Elizabethton. Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Ola Mae Taylor, Elizabethton, and Mrs. Nevada Ford, Johnson City, and two brothers, William Jackson, Portsmouth, Va., and Gordon M. Jackson, Biloxi, Miss. Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews and cousins also survive. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
