Jarrett 1/28/00 Jesse J. Jarrett, 85, 184 Jesse Jarrett Road, Roan Mountain, died Wednesday, January 26, 2000, at Cannon Memorial Hospital, Linville, N.C., following a brief illness. Mr. Jarrett was a native of Carter County and the son of the late William and Myra Street Jarrett. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Sue Heaton, and four brothers. Mr. Jarrett was a devoted member of Burbank Free Will Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and former Adult Sunday School Teacher. He was the owner of Jarrett's Apple Orchard and a previous member of the Apple Growers' Association. He served as a former member of the Board of Directors of the Carter County Farm Bureau. Survivors include his wife, Carrie Miller Jarrett, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Beth Ann Jarrett, Roan Mountain; three daughters and sons-in-law, Marie and Hubert Hodge, Blountville, Betty and Jim Hughes, Elizabethton, and Grace and Tom Presnell, Bristol; a sister, Mary Garland, Roan Mountain; a brother, Earl Jarrett, Knoxville; five grandsons, Gregory Heaton, Roan Mountain, Jeff Hodge, Raleigh, N.C., Scott Hodge, Bristol, Jim Hughes and Michael Hughes, both of Elizabethton; three granddaughters, Becky Emmert, Johnson City, Regina Buck, Roan Mountain, and Denna Shelton, Unicoi; and four great-grandchildren, Autumn and Amanda Heaton, Emily Hodge and Brandon Hodge. Several nieces and nephews and a special friend, Zeb Honeycutt, also survive. Jarrett, 85, 184 Jesse Jarrett Road, Roan Mountain, who went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 26, 2000, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday at Burbank Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Blevins and speaker, Mr. Johnny Hill, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Burbank Free Will Baptist Church Quartet and Mrs. Denise Hill. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Jarrett Family Cemetery. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m. Saturday for the service. Active pallbearers will be grandsons and grandsons-in-law: Jeff Hodge, Scott Hodge, Gregory Heaton, Jimmy Hughes, Michael Hughes, Lincoln Shelton and Jon Buck. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Burbank Free Will Baptist Church, Zeb Honeycutt and special friends. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Burbank Free Will Baptist Church. Friends may also call at the residence any time.
