CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Mary Jenkins, 2 Jun 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Mary Jenkins Mary Jenkins, age 87, 1013 Fairview Avenue, Elizabethton, died Monday, June 2, 2003 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Cameron Scalf and Annie Turner. She was of the Baptist faith and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy B. Jenkins; one infant son, Ricky Gene Hill; a brother, Harold Scalf, and two sisters, Selma Campbell and Christine Hill Miller. Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Betty and Chuck Mathis, of Elizabethton; Sue Elliott, of Elizabethton; Kay and Rick Church, of Elizabethton; six sons and four daughters-in-law, Paul Hill, of Junction City, Ore.; Cecil and Norma Hill, of Elizabethton; Leroy and Jan Hill, of North Platle, Neb.; Gary and Judy Hill, of Elizabethton; Dennis Hill, of Ulysses, Kan.; Terry and Gayle Scalf, of Elizabethton; one step-daughter, Della Davenport, of Elizabethton; 35 grandchildren; 57 great grandchildren, and 13 great great grandchildren. JENKINS -- The funeral service for Mary Jenkins, age 87, of 1013 Fairview Avenue, Elizabethton, who died Monday, June 2, 2003, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, June 5, 2003 at Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel of Peace with Rev. Steve Burleson officiating. Music will be under the direction of Shirley Long. Committal and entombment services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, June 6, 2003, at the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be the third floor nurses at Sycamore Shoals Hospital and Dr. Daniel Paul. Those who plan to attend the entombment service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. on Friday to go in procession to the cemetery.
