CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Harold Kenneth Jenkins, 7 Dec 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Harold Kenneth Jenkins, 73, 1236 Charity Hill Road, Elizabethton, died Sunday, December 7, 2003 in the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center following a short illness. A native of Carter County and a lifelong resident of Elizabethton, he was a son of the late Marion and Mabel Hatmaker Jenkins. He was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Lynn Valley Baptist Church. Mr. Jenkins was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Bowers, and a brother, Owen Jenkins. Survivors include three brothers and sisters-in-law, Von and Charlotte Jenkins and Fred and Nancy Jenkins, all of Elizabethton, and Marvin and June Jenkins, of Virginia. Several nieces and nephews and two special friends, Henry and Audrey Mathes, also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2003 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Wilson officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 10, 2003 in the National Cemetery, Mountain Home. William J. "Bill" Greene will provide the music. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday will be Henry Mathes, Leonard Morton, and the following nephews: Otto Jenkins, Timothy M. Jenkins, Chris Jenkins and Gerald Jenkins. Honorary pallbearers will be doctors of the Green Team and nurses of Ward C, VA Medical Center. Friends may call at the home of a brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Nancy Jenkins, 906 Abby Lane, Elizabethton.
