CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Oscar C. Jennings, 28 Nov 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Oscar C. Jennings, 77, Little Dry Run Road, Butler, passed away suddenly on Sunday, November 28, 2004, at his residence. He was born on April 15, 1927 in Johnson County to the late Walter Clyde and Maebell Cornett Jennings. In addition to his parents, Oscar was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Daisy Price Jennings, who passed away in 1999, and three brothers, Ralph, Sonny and Howard Jennings. Oscar enjoyed reading the Bible and spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of Dyson Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include five sons, Robert Jennings of Pennsylvania, Mike Jennings of Maryland, Butch Jennings, Mountain City, Walter Jennings and Lindsey Jennings, both of Butler; three sisters, Verleene Martin, Evelyn Farmer and Nora Mae Swift, all of Mountain City; seven brothers, Barney Jennings, Perry Jennings, Ben Jennings and Tony Jennings, all of Mountain City, Dewey Jennings, Westgrove, Pa., Jeter Jennings of Maryland and Jim Jennings of Florida; eleven grandchildren, Butch, Cindy and Debbie Hickman, Lindsey "Junior," Jeffrey, Kayla and Kimberly Jennings, Amy, Rachel and Jeff Jennings and Heather Smith. Several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 30, at Dyson Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Leonard Fletcher officiating. Music will be under the direction of the church choir and Larry and Brenda Barry. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 1, in the Jennings Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be family and friends of Oscar. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, prior to services at the church.
