Johnson 09/27/99 Herbie C. Johnson, 81, 634 First Avenue, Hampton, died Saturday, September 25, 1999, at Holston Valley Hospital, Kingsport, following a brief illness. Mrs. Johnson was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Herbert and Rula Fair Combs. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Allen Johnson, December 5, 1966, a brother and three sisters. Mrs. Johnson was a member of Hampton Christian Church. She was a retired employee of Mor-Flo Industries and a former employee of Bemberg and North American Rayon Corporation. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Junette and Jerry Sumner, Elizabethton; three sisters, Bernice Oxendine, Roan Mountain, Helen Howell, Elgin, S.C., and Wilma Tester, Panama City, Fla.; and a brother, Eddie Combs, Johnson City. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. JOHNSON — Funeral services for Herbie C. Johnson, 81, 634 First Avenue, Hampton, who died Saturday, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday at Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, with Mr. Dwayne Calhoun, minister, officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 9:55 a.m. Tuesday for the graveside service. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
