Johnson 08/03/99 Margaret C. Johnson, 82, 711 West I. Street, Elizabethton, died Monday, August 2, 1999, at Johnson City Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Johnson was a native and had lived most of her life in Carter County. She was a daughter of the late Maples L. and Mary Fitzsimmons Carriger and was also preceded in death by a brother, M.L. Carriger Jr., and two sisters, Marcella Covert and Virginia Cox. Mrs. Johnson was a retired elementary school teacher, having taught at Cloudland Elementary School. She was a member of the Elizabethton Woman's Club and a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday School teacher and former church clerk for several years. Survivors include her husband, J.B. Johnson, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda J. and Joe E. Bunn Sr., Jonesborough; two sisters, Doris Stone, Jonesborough, and Eloise Taylor, Tafton, Pa.; a grandson, Joe E. Bunn Jr., Johnson City; a great-granddaughter, Traci Bunn, Salem, Va.; and a great -great-grandson, Tyler Bunn, Salem, Va. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. JOHNSON -- Funeral services for Margaret C. Johnson, 82, 711 West I. Street, Elizabethton, who died Monday, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, with Rev. Joe Sorah officiating. A service of entombment will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Bunn Sr., Joe Bunn Jr., Chris Stone, Chris Arnett, Roy Anderson, Edward Fish, Randall Head, Steve Henegar, Samuel Henegar and Stephen Henegar. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service. Friends may also call at the residence any time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 225 Holly Lane, Elizabethton, Tenn. 37643. Everyone desiring to attend the service of entombment will meet at the Mausoleum of Peace at 10:20 a.m. Thursday. Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
